The general assembly (assemblée générale) will take place on Thursday 11/02 after the training.

MONDAY 21st DECEMBER: JI-GEIKO IN METZ.
Dominique COCO, sensei of the HAKU UN KAN Kendo Club of Metz, has invited all of our club members to attend an open ji geiko. It starts at 19h15 and ends around 21h00. It will be followed by a drink and/or dinner at a nearby restaurant. Everybody is welcome to participate, beginners included.
THURSDAY 17th DECEMBER: KENDO & PIZZA
This Thursday 17th December is the last Kendo training in 2009. After the training we will all go to a nice Italian restaurant to share a pizza and good moments together. Hope to see you in numbers!
A NEW 2nd DAN: CONGRATULATIONS!
On Sunday 6th October, Christophe SANTOS FERNANDES successfully passed the 2nd DAN examination during the Ken No Michi seminar in Paris. We are very proud of this achievement!
PARIS: KEN NO MICHI 2009
On Friday 4th of December, Dominique, Christophe, and Alexandre, all three members of the Shobukai Kendo club, left for Paris in order to attend the 9th edition of the Ken No Michi seminar. A huge Japanese delegation led by CHIBA Juichi, KURIHARA Kenichi, OTA Masataka, and UKARI Kenzo, was present at this unique event that lasted all weekend. On Sunday, Christophe took the examination for 2nd DAN and passed it brilliantly. Congratulations Christophe!
“REGROUPEMENT REGIONAL” IN METZ
The second regional get-together (regroupement régional) of the season 2009/2010 took place again in Metz, France. Over 20 Kendokas from Luxembourg, Metz, Nancy, and St. Avold participated this time. 5 Shobukai members were also present. Dominique COCO was again the sensei of the training. On the program: training for Dan exams. We reviewed all the Katas over and over again under the vigilant eye of Dominique COCO. We practiced Kirikaeshi and did some geiko at the end.

“BUSCHUR” DE STRASBOURG!
This past Saturday, October 31st, 4 members of the Shobukai travelled to the Kendo Seminar in Strasbourg, France held by the great Jean-Paul “Polo” CARPENTIER (7th Dan). After a small miscalculation we departed around 7h30 (Oli thought he could drive from his home in Alzingen to Luxembourg, pick up Karen and drive to Altwies to pick up José…all this in 10 minutes). About two hours later we arrived in Strasbourg where we joined Dominique and the other Kendokas. There were over 30 Kendokas present throughout the day. It was impressive to see the sensei Jean-Paul CARPENTIER in action. “Grand” is a word that befits him in all senses. A tall, massive man with a thick moustache and a gracious demeanour. It was a great pleasure watching him teaching and showing us correct moves. He is a great person and an excellent teacher with a great heart…an example to follow! On a cultural note, “Buschur” is how you say “Hello” or “Bonjour” in Alsace.

THIS WEEKEND: KENDO SEMINAR IN STRASBOURG
This weekend, starting on Friday 30/10 until Sunday 01/11, there is a Kendo seminar in Strasbourg, France. The seminar leader is Jean-Paul CARPENTIER (7th Dan). On Saturday morning, very early, several members of the Shobukai Kendo club will leave for Strasbourg and participate in the seminar for the day. We will be back in the evening. If there are any interested candidates, please contact Norbert, Olivier or José.
